3D Animation

I wanted to due this project in 3D initially as I thought its a quick process which it can be building furniture and objects that wont move time consuming part was rigging of the characters and especially the faces of the characters full disclosure I’m not a rigger and do not attend to be a rigger so experiencing the level of difficulty it would’ve been just to rig a single characters face let along multiple I knew it was beyond my time and current skill. But 3d lends itself to more dynamic camera angles and shots and I didn’t want to lose that aspect of that so I wanted to intergrade 3d somehow and then I had a eureka moment I wanted to use 3d for the backgrounds.

Cut out animation

cut out animation is a technique where the animator cuts out pieces of paper and then animates them. this form of animation is extremely quick and could be augured to be the quickest which is why I wanted to do my animation like this but what u gain in time you definitely lose in depth. This style is very flat looking to the audience cause to do anymore than that you would be better off just using digital 2d and i was unwilling to make that trade off I wanted a dynamic animation and I knew that cut out animation couldn’t led itself to do so in our amount of time

Claymation example

Claymation

plasticine animation, is one of many forms of stop-motion animation. Each animated piece, either character or background, is deformable made of a malleable substance, usually plasticine clay. my train of thought began to stir towards how can I stick out of the crowd I figure that nobody would be using Claymation so I began to do research into how feasible the process is in my time frame which was pleasant surprise it was but the only major problem with using this technique is my lack of familiarity and knowing my classmates as well I doubt we could deliver a quality animation using this technique as we be learning as we go and of course that’s not ideal for any production

Sand animation

Sand animation

is a technique on a lit glass table it is used like the animators canvas and the animator creates animation by moving the sand a certain way. The animator has to destroy the previous frame to create another scene its very similar to that of stop motion anytime the animator changes the sand he takes a photo of it very like Claymation I felt I wasn’t strong enough with this technique to use it in the project and felt the client deserved more than a learning attempt animation.

Hybrid animation

Hybrid animation

lastly hybrid animation is a combination of 3d assets and 2d animation to create one final piece of work this is used for thing like building vehicles complex moving parts machinery etc. for my final film I presented the idea of hybrid animation using 3d assets and putting 2d animation on top because I felt its the best of both words dynamic 3d angles but with the fluid 2D animation and everyone on my team will be familiar with both so I’m extremely confident in there ability’s to learn this quickly
